Welcome to Vogue’s very first Sleep Week, where we celebrate the glory of a good night’s rest. Over the next seven days, we’ll highlight our favorite sleep saviors—from pillows and bedding to night creams and pajamas. Read (and shop!) for the sweetest of dreams.
In celebration of Vogue’s first Sleep Week, it was only fitting that we tap into our very own editors for their before-bed routines, rituals, and of course, their go-to sleepwear. They are (mostly) fashion editors, after all. So what do our style-obsessed colleagues wear to get their beauty rest? Despite different personal styles, a handful of editors seem to agree on their favorites—such as Desmond and Dempsey’s playful printed sets perfect for rolling out of bed and into the Zoom screen or even for breakfast. A borrowed-from-the-boyfriend feel was another sleep style preferred by our editors, from menswear-inspired piped sets in preppy plaids to oversized sleep shirts and crewneck sweatshirts. Though, it’s not surprising that classic, comfortable, and supremely soft pajama sets were among the most loved.
Below, 10 Vogue editors share their most prized pajamas for an even better night’s sleep.
Julie Tong, Senior Commerce Editor
To say I live in Lake’s pajamas is an understatement. I love them so much, I’ve bought multiple pairs of the same set. My all-time favorite, however, is the bistro blue striped “weekend set,” comprised of a long sleeve top and shorts. I like the balance of the sleeve and shorts for all-season wear. Made of 100% Pima cotton, they are luxuriously soft, flattering, and slipping it on is truly one of my favorite highlights before getting into bed each night.
Alexandra Gurvitch, Editor
I am a sucker for a PJ set and a soft one at that. I love how cozy these Eberjey pajamas are; they are my favorite to wear to sleep.
Alexis Bennett, Commerce Writer
I love wearing dainty, soft fabrics to bed. The concept of putting on a silky cami and matching bloomers might not seem like much to others, but after a long day, the experience feels like an effortless act of self-care to me.
Christian Allaire, Fashion and Style Writer
I love my Desmond & Dempsey PJ set. On a few occasions, I have even worn it for my morning Zooms, and it totally looks like a normal shirt. Just add a necklace and boom—office wear!
Lilah Ramzi, Commerce and Features Editor
For about ten years now, I’ve slept in a variation of a Lauren by Ralph Lauren sleep shirt. I currently own about 4 in a variety of colorways (blue checks, red paisley, classic black stripes) and fabrications as well (there are a soft tee-shirt-like cotton and a crisp poplin-like fabric). The allure is that it mimics a shirt you might have borrowed (or stolen!) from a boyfriend, but since it’s designed for women with a longer hem and trimmer waist, it looks even better.
Willow Lindley, Accessories Director
I live for a really traditional cotton pajama set—soft, cozy, not too warm, not too cold. I also love a pajama set that’s fun for breakfast the next morning.
Alexandra Michler, Director, Fashion Initiatives
I was given these plush, cozy La Ligne pajamas as a Christmas gift, and I have probably worn them most nights since then! They are somehow super flattering (a first for me with pajamas) as they make your arms look really lean. Not to mention they are the coziest, most breathable pair I’ve tried in a while.
Rachel Besser, Market Editor
I used to sleep in an oversized tee until I got Cosabella’s super soft Bella pajama set. These PJs are now part of a calming evening ritual I’ve developed over the tumultuous past year: right before bed, I shower, slather on my Henry Rose Queens and Monsters body cream (I love the scent), then I pop on my super-comfortable Cosabella pajamas (I have two pairs and want another, the fabric is so soft) and I’m ready to write some gratitude for the day and drift off into a good night’s sleep.
Madeline Fass, Market Editor
I love nothing more than cozying up in a big crew neck sweatshirt in bed. Pending the season, I’ll wear either a matching sweatpant, boxer, or boyshort on the bottom. I usually run cold, so I always prefer a soft fleece lining to a cool and crisp classic pajama set.
Madeline Swanson, Market Editor
I have been a diehard Sleepy Jones fan for many years, and you can always find me in one of their super crisp menswear-inspired sets. I love their clever take on classic details like contrasting piping and retro-prep prints (this madras iteration evokes a particular nostalgia that I simply can’t resist!).
