Mum ‘created deepfake naked pictures of daughter’s rivals to get them kicked off team…

A mum has been arrested after she allegedly created “deepfake” images showing her daughter’s cheerleading rivals naked, drinking and smoking.

Raffaela Spone tried to get the teenagers kicked off the cheerleading squad after sending the pictures to coaches.

Court documents also claim she sent the altered images to victims, urging them to “kill themselves”.

Spone, from Bucks County, Pennsylvania, now faces three counts of cyber harassment of a child and three counts of harassment, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

An investigation was launched by police in July last year after the parents of a teenager said she had been sent anonymous doctored images showing her naked, drinking and smoking a vape.

They were concerned that the pictures could lead to the girl being kicked out of school.

Detectives discovered the images were doctored and traced them back to Spone

It then emerged that two more teenagers had received doctored pictures of themselves, police said.

There is no suggestion that Spone’s daughter was aware of what her mother was doing.

A legal affidavit says: “Spone last year created the doctored images of at least three members.”

Bucks County District Attorney Matt Weintraub said Spone had “urged them to kill themselves” in text messages.

After analysing the images, the pictures were identified as “deepfakes” – realistic looking digital images aimed at deceiving.

These were later traced to Spone’s IP address and mobile phone, investigators said.

Dad George Ratel, whose daughter was one of those targeted, voiced his anger, saying he believes Spone picked on her because she stopped hanging out with her daughter.

He said: “I don’t know what would push her to this point.

“As a dad I was pretty upset about it. It’s an image put out there of my daughter that is simply not true.”

Spone is set to appear in court on March 30.
