New Zealand is known for its lush, green landscape, which means there’s plenty of space for cows to roam. This makes the country the perfect place for grass-fed cows, which produce milk that is generally richer and fuller in fat than their grain-fed peers. After procuring this milk, Trader Joe’s supplier then adds a bit of salt (and nothing else), and uses traditional churning methods to create incredibly creamy butter. As Trader Joe’s explains, “While ideal for spreading over a toasty English Muffin with a bit of your favorite jelly, jam, or marmalade, our New Zealand Salted Butter is great for adding a little extra creaminess to any application that calls for salted butter.”
