Wetherspoons reveal ‘welcome back’ menu but it’s missing at least 44 dishes

Wetherspoons has revealed its ‘welcome back’ menu for when pubs finally reopen, however at least 44 dishes have been dropped.

Curries, steaks and missed grills are missing from the menu as Spoons prepares to reopen 394 of its pub garden, rooftops and terraces from April 12.

All of the chain’s boozers will offer the new menu when they reopen in a bid to ensure staff can socially distance.

Some of the dishes that are no longer on the menu are chicken burgers, various breakfast options, the all day brunch and steak and kidney pie.

A selection of weekly ‘club’ deals have also been temporarily stopped, including the Tuesday steak and Thursday curry specials.

The daily 2pm to 5pm fish deal is also off the cards, although a Friday offer will allow customers to grab a free drink with their fish and chips.

The number of toppings and fillings for pizzas and burgers has also been cut down.

Wetherspoons does not expect to return to its old menu until June 21, when all Covid restrictions are lifted, at the earliest.

The pub firm’s spokesman Eddie Gershon told The Sun : “We can’t wait to open our pubs with outdoor areas in England on April 12 and also in Scotland a few weeks later.

“We will be serving a fantastic menu throughout the day. We are reducing the menu slightly initially and look forward to offering the full menu in due course.

“Even with the reduced menu there are dozens of meals for customers to choose from.”

Wetherspoons customers will have to order food to their table via an app when pubs reopen next month.

The boozers will finally let people back inside on May 17, although punters will not be allowed to stand at the bar.

It is not possible to pre-book a table at the firm’s pubs so Brits will have to turn up and hope one is available, The Sun reports.
